Job Description

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing key reconciliations, supporting month-end close processes, and assisting with reporting and audit tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and eager to build a long-term career in accounting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries for various accounting functions including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and general ledger adjustments.

  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.

  • Help maintain and update accounting records and documentation in accordance with GAAP.

  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing documentation.

  • Analyze financial data and report on variances to budget or prior periods.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business needs.

  • Contribute to process improvements and accounting system enhancements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of general accounting experience (internships or entry-level roles count).

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Sage).

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in [industry, e.g., construction, real estate, manufacturing, nonprofit].

  • Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-location accounting.

  • CPA eligible or pursuing certification is a plus.
